The Founder of All People’s Party (APC).Dr. Hassan Ayariga has rubbished the ongoing Population and Housing Census describing it as waste of tax payers money.
The APC flagbearer who revealed this at a news conference in Accra on Tuesday where he touched on a number of pressing issues in the country including insecurity, surge in robberies and murders as well as the USD170 million judgement debt, also explained that the census, which costs us about USD 550 million, is a waste of money.
He said Ghana instead should have a national data system as opposed to the census which he said does not reflect the reality of the situation.
“We need to be serious as a country and put up a National data system to capture every body. Then you come and say I should line up to be counted, I wont line up to be counted”, Mr. Ayariga said.
He said given the opportunity, he can put up a national data system that would render census useless adding that census is not the way to go as far as data capturing is concerned.
The APC Presidential Candidate in the 2020 elections also took a swipe at President Akufo Addo for the falling standards in the economy and the increased insecurity in the country.
He bemoaned the use of police by the NPP government in preventing the fix the country demonstrations, which demonstrations he said was necessary to put the country on a right footing.
“You participated in 59 demonstrations in this country. You can not use the Police to stop people from demonstrating”, Dr. Ayariga emphasized in reference to the President.
