ILAPI Congratulates New IGP Designate

We congratulate the new Inspector General Police, COP DR. George Akuffo Dampare (PhD) on his appointment as the Acting IGP.

We remind him of the daily challenging insecurity situation we found ourselves in. As much as we agree that security is a shared responsibility, the institution he now heads has the mandate to ensure law and order.

We encourage him to focus on improved intelligence gathering, promotion of human rights, swift and fairness in the application of the law, engage in technologically driven policing, training of personnel in special areas in line with international trends, making good use of the available human resources in the service, promote police public relationship, ensure the welfare of personnel, building confidence among the citizens by ensuring accountability of duty bearers, who act arbitrarily or capriciously and reduce the incidents of corruption in the service.

Finally, we urge the populace to cooperate and assist the efforts of the police in ensuring law and order.

As we all celebrate this envious success with you as the newest maestro with the technical abilities to confront our insecurity issues in the country, we at ILAPI humbly edge him to be proactive on the early warning signs of insecurity to create and sustain the trust and happiness his appointment has comes with.
