John Mahama Commend Zongo Chiefs, Imams
Former President and the flagbearer of National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the 2020 general elections, H.E. John Dramani Mahama has commended the zongo chiefs and Imams in the Greater Accra for their support for the party.
According to the former President, all the Zongos across the country have given NDC a massive victory.
One cannot repay the massive support and love shown the NDC by the people of zongo over the years accept to thank them, according to John Mahana.
The former President made said this when he was addressing the chief and Imam at the Kaokudi National Mosque Complex in Accra on Wednesday as part of his final “Thank You Tour” of the region.
Touching on the construction of the National Mosque Complex, the former recalled his first trip to Turkey when he assumed office as head of state in 2012 on invitation of Turkish President, H.E. Recep Tayyib Erdogan. while in Turkey, H.E. John Mahama made a passionate request for the construction of the Mosque for the Ghanaian Muslims and was granted.
The former Ghanaian President told the chiefs and Imams that his party had better plans for the Zongo and the National Mosque was one of those.
The spokes person for the Zongo chiefs, Alhaji Moro Baba Issah who doubles as the Chief of Wangara community recounted how former President ensured that the Council of Zongo Chiefs formed and donated a vehicle towards their work.
They commended the NDC for their numerous interventions in the health and educational sectors adding that “our youth need jobs and education when you get the nod to lead the country again”.
The NDC’s Zongo Caucus Cordinator for the Greater Accra Region, Ismail Ali Horoya also commended and thanked the Chiefs and Imams for honoring their invitation.
