Speaking at the backstage of a workshop organised by Conservation Alliance International in Accra , Chairman of National Biodiversity Committee, Prof. Alfred Oteng-Yeboah advised that the time had come for people to take note of what was happening in their surroundings and communities.

According to him, there were new species and living things springing up within a community going unnoticed due to the little attention given to biodiversity information.

He said they would roll out advocacy plan to get Ghanaians well educated in this area.

The training for trainers workshop according to him, was one of the plan to deploy professionals in educating larger number of the ghanaian populace.

On his part, the Principal Programme Officer, Mr. Godwin Asiedu, underscored the importance of biodiversity data to the socioe-conomic development of Ghana.

He said beyond building deep capabilities, Ghana needed to adopt a global perspective, collaborate, and learn from others to succeed in dynamic and complex biodiversity landscape.

“Biodiversity information is a key resource that informs planning, policy development and public decision- making”, he added.
