Late Mills’ son, family choose innocent Mahama over hateful jealous Anyidoho, others
The son of the late president of Ghana, Samuel Atta Mills and his family have chosen to celebrate the 10th anniversary of his death with the former president, John Drammani Mahama who was his vice before the passed on.
His anniversary was characterized by controversies alleged to have been generated by his former spokesman at the presidency, Koku Anyidoho, which many said the action was totally opposite of the values the late Mills stood for ; peace and unity.
It will be recalled that the family earlier on was incensed that not a single member had been officially invited for the supposed 10th year anniversary to be held at the Asomdwee Park, where the mortal remains lie, on Sunday, July 24.
But speaking on Friday, July 22, when he was installed as the Family Head of the Nkuma Kyereba Twidan of Cape Coast, Dr Cadman Mills, the brother of the late president, said he is “shocked” and “saddened” that no family member was officially invited for the occasion.
He however called on President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo not to attend the event, stating that such action would be tantamount to an insult on the family.
The Asomdwee Park was recently given a facelift apparently in readiness for the 10th anniversary ceremony of the passing of the late Professor.
The renovation works were carried out by the Coastal Development Authority (CoDA).
Meanwhile, different pictures after the anniversary indicated peaceful man’s funeral rather divided the nation he held so dear to his heart even till his demise.
While the head of Atta Mills Institute, Samuel Koku Anyidoho, then Presidential Spokesperson of the late President, is said to have played a pivotal part in the refurbishment of the facility and leading the programme of activities to mark the anniversary was seen and heard praising the incumbent president for his role, the son and family of prof Mills were with the former president Mahama celebrating the Asomdwee-hene.
